BOTOX® Washington DC

If you are concerned with frown lines in your forehead, furrows between your eyes or the “crows feet” areas of your face, you may want to consider BOTOX® Cosmetic, a non-surgical treatment known for its natural-looking results and popular with our Washington DC-area patients. Botulinum toxin, or BOTOX®, works by weakening the muscles of facial expression. Once the resting tone of the treated muscles is weakened, the pull of the muscles relaxes and the overlying skin flattens.
This approach is different than other local treatments for the aging face—such as silicone, collagen, autologous fat transfer, Alloderm and Softform—which work by filling in wrinkles or depressions. These fillers are frequently not as effective as BOTOX® Washington DC in removing wrinkles in the upper third of the face. By physiologically weakening the muscles with BOTOX®, wrinkles are lessened naturally—often disappearing altogether.
BOTOX® Cosmetic usually requires only a quick office visit, but it can also be incorporated into a facelift or other cosmetic surgery procedure.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is also effective in suppressing over-active sweat glands and even nasal muscles (to decrease nasal flaring) and migraine headaches.
WASHINGTON DC BOTOX®: WHAT TO EXPECT
Using a tiny needle, the physician injects BOTOX® Washington DC directly into the muscle of the area to be treated, causing those specific muscles to be paralyzed. This halts muscle function and thereby diminishes the presence of wrinkles. It takes just a few days to realize the beneficial effect of BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. Following an appointment, patients can immediately resume their normal activities. This paralysis is temporary, so BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are usually repeated every four to six months.
The specific risks and the suitability of BOTOX® Washington DC for a given individual can only be determined at the time of consultation. Minor complications occur occasionally, but they do not affect a successful outcome. Major complications are rare. BOTOX® is a registered trademark of Allergan, Inc.
