Brazilian Butt Lift in Washington DC
If you’re like many women, you work hard to achieve a firm, flat tummy and slender hips. But, at the same time, do you wish your flat buttocks were a little rounder, a little fuller? If you have always wanted to have shapelier buttocks and reduce fat on your body, you may be interested in a Brazilian butt lift, a popular body contouring procedure that does both.
How does a Brazilian butt lift work?
Also called buttock augmentation, a Brazilian butt lift actually combines two cosmetic surgery techniques — liposuction and fat grafting — into one procedure designed not only to give you a shapelier rear end but also to enhance your body contour in the hips, buttocks, and lower abdomen.
The process begins at your consultation, where your plastic surgeon will listen to your goals and help you identify the best way to achieve the buttock contour you desire. As each patient has a unique body composition, the areas and amount of fat removed during liposuction will be unique to you.
The outpatient procedure, which usually takes about 2-3 hours, is performed using general anesthesia from a board certified MD anesthesiologist. First, your surgeon will remove fat through liposuction, sculpting a beautiful contour that will reduce stubborn fat deposits in the body. After removing the fat, he will purify it and then carefully re-inject it into the buttocks to achieve a rounder, fuller shape.
By removing fat from the hips, lower back, and thigh region, our plastic surgeons are able to sculpt these areas to further accentuate your curves while adding fullness to the buttocks. Additionally, by using your own fat (as opposed to implants), the procedure is safer for you, it eliminates the risk of complications associated with buttock implants, and the results will be long-term. Best of all, your refined buttock contour will look and feel natural.
Are you a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift?
If you are unhappy with the way jeans fit because of a flat butt, would like to feel more confident in form-fitting clothing and swimsuits, or want to add definition to your buttocks without implants, you may be a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift.
For ideal results, keep in mind that there must be an adequate amount of fat to transfer to the buttocks. Therefore, very lean women may not have enough fat in the hips, lower back, or abdomen to use and may need to consider another method to enhance the buttocks.

What is recovery like?
The recovery time from a Brazilian butt lift varies depending on the extent and number of areas where you had liposuction, but most patients can return to work in about 2 weeks. Most likely, you will wear a compression garment for support and to control swelling during the initial weeks after surgery. You will also have to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for a number of days after surgery. We will provide you with all the details about surgery and recovery at your patient consultation.
