Chin Augmentation for Men

A small or weak chin can dramatically affect your facial harmony and draw attention away from other strong features. If you are unhappy with your jawline or find yourself wishing your chin was stronger or more chiseled, it may be time to consider chin augmentation surgery. Male chin augmentation is a straightforward procedure that helps men from Washington, DC; Chevy Chase and Bethesda, MD; Arlington and Fairfax, VA; and surrounding areas balance their features and strengthen their jawline through the placement of a chin implant.

How Can Chin Augmentation Help Me?

Our surgeons will evaluate your natural facial structure and help determine the best options for giving you a sharp, masculine jawline. The precise and intentional placement of a chin implant to enhance your features will:

  • Add structure and shape to a small or “weak” chin
  • Naturally balance your facial features
  • Define your jawline and redefine your neckline
  • Enhance the results of other facial procedures, such as rhinoplasty

During your personalized consultation, our plastic surgeons will listen to your concerns and help develop a treatment plan that best achieves your goals.

What to Expect from Male Chin Augmentation Implants

Chin augmentation surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia administered by one of our board certified anesthesiologists. This is an outpatient procedure and, depending on your individual needs, can take anywhere from one to three hours. Your surgeon will begin by placing a small, inconspicuous incision either underneath your chin or inside of your mouth.

Through this incision, your surgeon will place a plastic or synthetic implant on the front surface of the lower jaw to provide definition. This implant will be customized to your existing facial structure and pre-selected before your procedure to provide the most natural and masculine results. Once the implant has been placed satisfactorily, your incisions will be sutured and dressed.

After your surgery, you will experience swelling and slight bruising on your lower jaw. For the first few days, you will need to restrict your diet to liquids or soft foods as your body begins healing and acclimating to the chin implant. Within 10 – 14 days, most of your swelling should be gone and you can resume normal activity and exercise. It may take four to six weeks for your chin to feel completely normal.
