Is a Facelift Right for Me?

Aging, sun damage, and genetics can all play a role in the way your face ages. If you’re feeling like you’ve gone from handsome to haggard, or simply want to look your best yet, it may be time to consider seeing a skilled plastic surgeon about facelift options for men. Common reasons men choose facelift surgery include:

  • Your face looks tired or angry despite your mood
  • The jawline lacks definition, contributing to the appearance of jowls or a weak chin
  • Deep lines have formed around from the base of the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • Your neck and face have lost skin elasticity and muscle definition, leading to drooping skin

Regardless of your reasons, consulting with a plastic surgeon is your first step in determining if a facelift or other procedures can help you regain a younger, sharper appearance.

How Much Does a Facelift Cost in the Washington, DC, Metro Area?

We perform facelift and neck lift as one surgery, starting at $11,000. You will be provided with a personalized price estimate after your consultation with one of our providers.

Are You Just Concerned About Your Neck?

We often provide a specialized surgical procedure geared specifically to men concerned about lax skin on their neck (the dreaded “turkey neck”). This procedure, known as the anterior neck lift with Z-plasty, focuses on improving the front of the neck, which is a common concern for men. The anterior neck lift involves liposuction to reduce pockets of fat, repairing lax neck muscles, and removing excess skin.

This procedure is less complex and has a shorter recovery than a full facelift, making it an ideal choice for men who want to return to work within just a few days. Our surgeons have specialized expertise in this procedure and have found that men appreciate the results and short recovery.

What Happens During a Male Facelift?

Depending on your location, your facelift will be performed either in our accredited outpatient surgery suite or at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. Facelift surgery is performed with patients under general anesthesia or using a local anesthetic with sedation administered by one of our board-certified anesthesiologists.

Your surgeon will begin by making incisions behind your hairline at the temple and around the front of the ear, placing them as inconspicuously as possible. He will then reposition underlying tissues, remove extra skin, and lift and tighten the remaining skin to highlight the natural masculine contours of your face. Once the desired level of improvement has been achieved, your incisions will be closed and sutured.

How Long Is Recovery After a Facelift?

After surgery, you can expect a few days of downtime for your body to heal. Many patients return to work after about a week, but you should expect the initial facelift healing time to last between 10 to 14 days. You should begin to feel more like yourself after 3 to 4 weeks. The final results are evident after a few months, once all swelling has completely resolved.
