Ultrapulse CO2 Laser

With UltraPulse CO2 laser skin resurfacing at our Annandale and Chevy Chase practice, we help clients from Washington, DC; Bethesda, MD; Arlington and Fairfax, VA; and surrounding areas renew the texture and appearance of their skin. This laser strips away the outer layer of damaged skin so that new skin cells form and create smooth, tight, younger-looking skin. Because this treatment is non-invasive and does not involve harsh chemicals, our aestheticians are able to easily measure exactly how much tissue to remove during the procedure.

Our clients undergo this resurfacing treatment under anesthesia in our accredited Northern Virginia surgical facility at the Surgery Center of Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC.

Who Is a Candidate?

Candidates for UltraPulse CO2 laser skin resurfacing are those concerned with the effects of sun damage, acne scarring, or wrinkles. Patients with darker skin may be at a higher risk of hyperpigmentation or complication, as well as those who have taken Accutane or other skin-altering medications recently.

What Happens During Laser Skin Resurfacing?

At Center for Plastic Surgery, our greatest concern is your comfort. After anesthesia is administered, the skin is cleansed and the laser is applied to the skin. The length and extensiveness of the procedure will depend on your treatment areas, which may require deeper treatment. After treatment, the skin is soothed and neutralized, with steps taken to ensure the skin is well-moisturized and protected from UV rays.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Recovery

In the first few days after the procedure, your skin will “weep” as the dermal layer forms new collagen to rebuild the skin from the bottom up. It will then undergo a period of crusting for a few days. When the crusting subsides, the fresh new skin will have a pink quality, which will fade over a period of two to six weeks. You can easily camouflage the pinkness with makeup, applied four to seven days following the procedure. Many patients describe the feeling as similar to a sunburn.

Post-procedure discomfort is usually minor, requiring little or no medication, but because pain is highly individual, our plastic surgeons will make sure that you are kept comfortable during and after your UltraPulse CO2 resurfacing.

Schedule Your Complimentary Consultation Today

We invite our Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia clients to inquire about UltraPulse CO2 skin resurfacing and how it can help give you smoother, fresher, younger-looking skin. The specific risks and the suitability of this treatment for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications occur occasionally and do not affect a successful outcome. Major complications are rare.
