CPS Welcomes Dr. Samir Rao
The staff at the Center for Plastic Surgery extends a warm welcome to Dr. Samir Rao, the latest addition to our team of plastic surgeons. Dr. Rao brings a wealth of experience to our practice, as well as several new surgical techniques to help us better serve our patients.
Dr. Rao graduated with distinction from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Afterwards, he completed a six-year residency in plastic surgery at Georgetown University Hospital, while simultaneously receiving training in advanced microsurgical techniques from the Curtis National Hand Center. He’s also done volunteer work for the non-profit group Ecuadent, providing much-needed reconstructive surgery to children in Ecuador suffering from cleft palates and congenital hand and foot abnormalities.
Even when he’s not plying his trade, Dr. Rao endeavors to improve the knowledge base supporting the science of plastic and reconstructive surgery. His work has led him to write and publish numerous book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has also presented at prestigious national conferences, including those of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.
Areas of Interest
Dr. Rao’s particular areas of interest include autologous and prosthetic breast reconstruction, lower extremity reconstruction, and body contouring surgery to help patients regain a tight, shapely figure after major weight loss. All of us at the Center for Plastic Surgery are thrilled to be working with such a skilled professional. The next time you come in to our office, be sure to say hello to our newest team member!
