What is Dermaplaning?

Does your skin require more extensive resurfacing? Dermaplaning is a controlled method of surgical scraping that removes dead skin and peach fuzz, instantly brightening, softening, and refining your face. This can also soften the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, and skin irregularities. Dermaplaning can be added to any treatment or performed individually.

Who is a Candidate?

Candidates for dermaplaning should have relatively tolerant skin due to the somewhat abrasive nature of the treatment. Patients with active acne should avoid dermaplaning because it could open the active spots and spread bacteria. Candidates for dermaplaning will want to discontinue the use of retinol, aggressive AHA or BHA treatments and physical exfoliation a few days before your scheduled treatment to avoid irritation.

The Treatment

Dermaplaning treatments are carefully performed with a sharp blade by an experienced skincare professional to remove dead skin cells and tiny hairs that exist on the surface of the skin. By removing these dead skin cells and hairs, the skin’s cell turnover process is triggered, and skincare products can better sink into the skin.

Results & Recovery

The skin may be slightly red after treatment and in some cases, it may feel a little sensitive due to the light abrasion. The great thing about dermaplaning is that you can receive smooth, glowing skin without all of the scratching that can occur with other physical exfoliation methods. After treatment, you will be left with fresh, soft skin that makes makeup application a breeze
