What is a Brazilian Butt Lift, Anyway?

Posted July 26, 2013 in Plastic Surgery | 2 Minute Read

Summer is here, and that means beaches and pools are packed with people looking to beat the heat. At Center for Plastic Surgery, we are proud to announce a brand new procedure that can help you get a firm, full backside that you can be confident to show off in a swimsuit. The Brazilian butt lift is a specialty of the newest addition to our staff, Dr. Samir Rao.

So, what exactly is a Brazilian butt lift? Here are three facts you should know about this trendy new procedure:

1) Liposuction + fat grafting = BBL

The process is a combination of two relatively simple procedures. First, we perform liposuction, usually in the areas below the buttocks and around the hips and lower back. Not only will the liposuction accentuate your buttocks, but also the fatty tissue that is removed will be grafted onto the buttocks, giving it even more tightness and volume.

2) It’s a gluteal reshaping procedure – NOT an implant

There are no silicone or saline implants involved in a Brazilian butt lift. Instead, Dr. Rao uses the body’s excess fat to give you the shape you want. It’s natural, and the risks associated with it are minimal and similar to most other plastic surgeries.

3) Post-operative care is vital

A moderate amount of discomfort after the procedure is to be expected and can be managed with pain medications. However, it’s important to avoid traditional sitting for at least 6 weeks after the surgery is performed. This is necessary for the transferred fat to develop an adequate blood supply.

We are happy to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. If you are interested in this procedure, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Rao today.
