Rhinoplasty for Washington, D.C.

If you are troubled by a nose that is not straight or is out of balance with the rest of your face, you may want to consider rhinoplasty. Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia patients can benefit from this procedure. Also known as nose reshaping or a nose job, this is the surgery used to change or improve the shape of the nose. It is also used in conjunction with a septoplasty or turbinate reduction procedure to correct nasal breathing problems. When this procedure addresses functional problems, your insurance may cover some of the costs.

Is There a Right Time for Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty can be done once nasal growth is complete. In girls, this usually occurs by age 13 and by age 16 in boys. It can be done at any age for deformities or issues that develop over time or result from injury.

How Is Rhinoplasty Performed?

Incisions are made inside the nose and are closed with dissolving sutures. If the nostrils must be narrowed, there may be small incisions and removable sutures at the nostril rim. These sutures are taken out five days after surgery. A splint will be removed about one week after surgery. Most bruising and swelling will disappear within 10 to 14 days. You may participate in non-contact exercise two weeks after surgery, but you should avoid contact athletics for six weeks.
