A neck lift is a surgical procedure that improves the contour of the neck by repositioning the skin and muscles. A neck lift can be performed in conjunction with other facial procedures such as a facelift for a more comprehensive solution. Many women and men from Washington, DC; Chevy Chase and Bethesda, MD; Arlington and Fairfax, VA; and surrounding areas seek out this procedure because their neck has lost skin elasticity and muscle definition over the years, causing a loss of definition and structure.
A candidate for a neck lift may be starting to notice creasing and laxity in the neck due to general signs of aging or genetic factors. There is no perfect age to get a neck lift, rather certain characteristics that warrant surgical measures to correct. Common reasons a patient may decide to get a facelift are:
We perform facelift and neck lift as one surgery, starting at $11,000. You will be provided with a personalized price estimate after your consultation with one of our providers.
After your consultation with one of our plastic surgeons and you have scheduled your procedure, you’ll begin to prepare for your procedure following the preparation guidelines provided. On the day of your surgery, you will be prepped and given medication for your comfort. During the procedure, you will most likely get put under general anesthesia for increased comfort throughout the procedure.
Your surgeon will begin by making incisions under the chin and behind the ears if necessary in order to reposition the tissue. The muscles that line the neck (platysma), will first be sewn together for a tighter foundation. After the foundation is created, any excess tissue will be trimmed and secured to a tighter position. Incisions will then be closed, and bandages will be applied before you are taken to the recovery room. In most cases, patients are released the same day under the supervision of a predetermined friend or family member.
Choose the experts that locals know and trust. Our multigenerational practice includes 4 board-certified plastic surgeons who provide the best possible care with state-of-the-art technology.
Meet Our SurgeonsYour surgeon will discuss with you how long your recovery should be during your preoperative appointments; and on the day of the procedure, your designated caregiver will be given aftercare instructions. Right after surgery, you will probably be feeling drowsy and your neck will feel slightly numb but somewhat tight. Any bruising of the neck in this instance is completely normal, and will most likely fade within the next five days. Full recovery will vary among individuals; however, if you follow your aftercare instructions closely you’ll know what normal symptoms to expect and when to make an appointment in the event complications arise. The results from a neck lift procedure should be long-lasting but could be affected by aging in the future as well as weight fluctuations.
If you are considering neck lift surgery, it’s important to choose a plastic surgeon in Washington, DC, with the proper training and experience. Your surgery should be performed in a safe, clean, and accredited surgical facility with board-certified anesthesiologists and properly licensed surgical staff.
