Building Your Summer Skincare Routine

Winter and summer can come with their own set of challenges when it comes to skincare. Just like your wardrobe, your skincare regimen is most likely different from season to season. That’s a good thing since your skin has different needs when the weather gets warm. Here are some steps to add in to make sure your skin gets everything it needs this summer.

Don’t forget the SPF

Although harmful sunlight can be a problem all year round, it’s especially important to protect against during the summer when you’re more prone to heading outside to enjoy the warm weather. Including a broad-spectrum sunscreen in your daily skin care can be one of the most important steps you can take in making sure your skin stays healthy in the long-run. Things like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are especially good at blocking harmful UV rays, so be sure to check the ingredients before reaching for the highest SPF. In fact, our surgeons and aestheticians recommend SPF 30-50. All of the sunscreens we sell are non-comedogenic which means they are specially formulated to not clog pores.

Because your skin is subject to more sun exposure than other times of the year, it’s important to be proactive about repairing any damage as a result of sunlight. Certain UV rays don’t cause sunburn, but instead, are absorbed into the skin and can cause wrinkles over time. It’s important to include things like growth factors (and SPF!) into your moisturizer to jump-start your skin on restoring volume and rejuvenating the different layers. Even when the weather is warm and humid, your skin can still dry out from sunburn or regular sun exposure, so it’s always important to moisturize.

Treat your skin

Regardless of your skin’s condition, it can always benefit from a restorative treatment like the HydraFacial MD®, which can ensure your skin has all the things it needs. This highly-customized treatment occurs in four steps, which includes exfoliation, a light chemical peel, pore extraction, and a deep hydration treatment. This can include the use of super serums which are specially formulated for different skin concerns, so you can choose the right one for you.
