For breast augmentation patients, we follow a specific Quick Recovery protocol to reduce downtime and increase comfort.

1. Preoperative pain medication is administered, just prior to anesthesia, to cut down on the need for post-op narcotics and improve recovery.
2. Anesthesia is always administered by a board certified anesthesiologist who uses shorter-acting anesthetics to reduce the “anesthesia hangover” and post-operative nausea.
3. Toward the end of your procedure, we inject long-acting local anesthetics and perform a nerve block, in addition to providing pain medication and muscle relaxers. With this protocol, our patients are off prescription pain medications sooner and report reduced pain and general discomfort after surgery.

This program has led to a more comfortable recovery with patients being able to shower, walk, and lightly stretch just a day after surgery. Although heavy weightlifting and running need to wait a few weeks, patients can drive and return to work much more quickly than before.
